How to prepare for your first MUAY THAI lesson

2 min read

You do not need to know every technique before arriving for your first lesson. MT STUDIO Beginner Training is a 12-hour private programme designed for newcomers and students who want to strengthen their fundamentals. Start by making your booking, equipment needs and training goals clear.

Confirm your branch, appointment and equipment

Our Bomonti location is in Şişli on Istanbul’s European side. Our Bostancı location is inside Clubsporium on the Asian side. Choose a branch that fits your regular journey from work or home, and check the coach’s current availability on the website. A convenient training route can make a consistent schedule easier to maintain.

What should you bring?

Comfortable sports clothing, water and a towel are practical essentials. Our programme page lists boxing gloves, hand wraps and shin guards as the basic equipment. If you are unsure about glove size or protection, ask the team before purchasing. Follow your coach’s guidance on fit and use rather than selecting equipment solely by appearance.

Focus on the basics

The beginner curriculum covers stance, guard, footwork, basic punches, kicks, knees and elbows, and defensive principles. You are not expected to complete that curriculum in one session. Focus on the work your coach selects for your level, ask about movements you do not understand and apply each correction. Understanding the starting and finishing position of a movement matters more than rushing through it.

Explain your goals

Tell your coach about your sporting background, any previous martial arts experience and what you hope to learn. Understanding technique, building a regular training routine and preparing to join a group are different aims. Private coaching allows your instructor to observe your work directly. Compare your current understanding with your own earlier attempts rather than with another student.

Plan the next appointment

Before leaving, clarify what you worked on and when your next lesson will take place. The published programme has a one-month usage period and recommends planning around three sessions per week. Check availability before registering so the schedule fits your commitments. For current conditions and branch information, use the programme page or contact the team through WhatsApp.
